Dow To Idle Latex Plant
in Puerto Rico
● UCAR Emulsion Systems, a business unit
of The Dow Chemical Co., has plans
to idle its latex production facility at
Bayamon, Puerto Rico by January 31.
This unit, which produces latex emulsions
for use in architectural coatings,
currently employs 22.
This decision follows an asset optimization
study of Dow’s UES operations
worldwide, which indicated that
the Bayamon site has the highest
cost increment in the worldwide UES
operations in the Americas. Given
current demand levels, customers
will be sourced from other UCAR
Emulsion Systems manufacturing
sites.
